Founding Pastor

God used Dr. Terry L. Faulkenbury to found and plant West Cabarrus Church on Palm Sunday, 1991.


Terry was born in Charlotte and grew up in Cabarrus County. He is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University with a B.A. in Religion and of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity Degree. In 1999, he earned his Doctor of Ministry from Liberty University.

Originally from Louisiana, wife Phyllis, is his ''Cajun Queen".  They have one son, Evan, who is a 2008 graduate of Liberty University, spent 2 years as a Journeyman Missionary with the IMB of the Southern Baptist Convention serving in Uganda, Africa. Evan has his Ph.D. in U.S. History from UNC-Chapel Hill.  Terry and Phyllis were blessed with a lovely daughter-in-law, Alex from Dallas, TX. Alex graduated from Liberty University with a major in Intercultural Studies. She also completed her Master's Degree in English at East Carolina University.  Evan and Alex have given the Faulkenburys a granddaughter, Clara Hope, born December 30, 2013.  She is our joy!"

Pastor Terry also served as the President of Charlotte Bible College & Seminary which has merged with Carolina College of Biblical Studies
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Salvation Army of Cabarrus County (since 2016) and as a Cabarrus County Sherriff's Department Chaplain.
